Same Day Urgent Pediatric Care Now Available in Woodridge
Premier Suburban Medical Group offers sick and injured children board-certified specialized care
Taking a sick or injured child to an urgent care can be a gamble. Will there be a physician there who understands pediatric medicine and the health challenges unique to children? Many times, especially in the suburbs, children in urgent situations are treated by providers who really don’t have much experience with children.
Enter Premier Suburban Medical Group, Pediatric Division, in Woodridge, with pediatricians Dr. Sylvia Irizarry, Dr. Won Kim and Dr. Robert Oliver. These board-certified pediatricians accept same day and next day appointments, providing urgent care services especially for children.
“We saw a need for pediatric urgent care here in the Woodridge, Naperville and Darien area,” says Irizarry. “We provide care for our own patients, but we are also available for any child who needs to be seen quickly, for a fever, a cough, a sore throat and more.”
This pediatric same day urgent care treats children only, from newborn to age 22. Children can be seen for symptoms of allergies, asthma, earaches and ear infections, pink eye, stomach aches, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, urinary tract infections, strep throat, rashes, cuts, sprains and broken bones. Premier Suburban Medical Group pediatricians can also treat burns, bites, sports-related injuries, pneumonia - any non-life threatening illness or injury.
Dr. Kim says, “Bringing children to a pediatric office instead of an emergency room is better for kids in many ways. Emergency rooms can be very overwhelming, with patients in traumatic situations that can scare children. Wait times are often very lengthy and unmanageable for a sick or injured child.” A typical urgent care or Emergency department will not have a trained and board-certified pediatrician on staff. A pediatrician is able to provide more specialized examination and care, identifying conditions that may need further testing or treatment.
The same day care received at Premier Suburban Medical Group Pediatrics is better for parents too as medical costs are lower. “Care is accessed faster, with children remaining calmer and more comfortable for the duration of the visit,” says Dr. Oliver. “Pediatricians care for children and teens all day long. We can diagnose children very accurately and we know how to communicate with them and with parents about their conditions.”
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Premier Suburban Medical Group does require a telephone call before arrival at the clinic.
Dr. Won Kim is board certified in both pediatrics and neonatology and has been practicing since 1982. Dr. Kim is a patient, compassionate pediatrician, who is now caring for the children of some of his original patients.
Dr. Sylvia Irizarry speaks fluent Spanish and English. Besides general pediatrics, Dr. Irizarry has clinical experience in asthma, allergies, development, and mental and emotional health. Her patients and their families love her sense of humor.
Dr. Robert Oliver is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, bringing a focus on healthy growth and development and also on preventative measures to avoid diabetes, hypertension and other chronic diseases as children grow.
This same day and next day Pediatric Care is located within Premier Suburban Medical Group’s new facility in Woodridge, on Janes Avenue just north of 75th Street. The Group serves patients of all ages, with physicians who specialize in internal medicine, family practice, cardiology, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedic surgery, radiology, hematology and oncology.
“As a group,” says Dr. Kim, “we have been together for many years and have cared for many patients in the Blue Island and Orland Park areas. We’ve formed this new group to practice medicine the way it should be. We listen carefully, welcome all questions, answer them thoroughly and we always put our patients first.”
By offering same day pediatric urgent care, Dr. Kim, Dr. Irizarry and Dr. Oliver are now putting the littlest patients first, providing cost-effective, unmatched and expert care for sick or injured children.
